It's a lifeline for many, helping them navigate through the challenges of college life while focusing on their studies.Associate Dean of Students at the University of Cincinnati, Dan Cummins, emphasizes the tough choices students often face. With the increasing cost of tuition, books, and living expenses, students are forced to prioritize. The need for food assistance becomes evident as they struggle to balance paying for essential utilities like rent, electricity, gas, and internet, which are crucial for their schoolwork in this digital age.

Xavier University's Store
Xavier University's Store is a haven for enrolled students, offering a wide range of non-perishable, fresh, and frozen items. School supplies, household products, and hygiene items are also available, ensuring that students have everything they need to thrive.Associate Director of Care and Support Services at Xavier University, Ashley Henkes, highlights the common misconception that college students don't struggle. In reality, many students are stretched thin when it comes to paying tuition bills, leaving little funds for groceries. The Store becomes a crucial source of support, providing students with the necessary items to maintain their well-being.
Both food pantries serve approximately 1,500 students, and the demand is only on the rise. They rely heavily on donations to keep their operations running smoothly, and every contribution makes a difference in the lives of these students.
During this weekend's game, a friendly competition takes place between the two universities. You can donate to either or both pantries at any time, and the winner will be announced after the game. Tip-off for the Crosstown Shootout is at 2 p.m. at Fifth Third Arena on Saturday. This is the third year of the Crosstown Foodout, and in the past two years, the Musketeers have emerged victorious in both the game and the foodout.
